proactive attitude

re: analogies

(1) driver
"... we cannot change anything by focusing all our attention on it. to try to improve the quality of our lives while thinking about what is wrong with them is like trying to drive a car forward by looking in the rearview mirror. you don't get anywhere in life by looking at where you've been or even where you're at. you get there by looking at where you are going and developiong a DETERMINED ATTITUDE to remain headed in that direction.

(2) tightrope walker
"... as any tightrope walker will tell you, it doesn't pay to look down.... safety lies in keeping the gaze forward, in the direction of the PERCEIVED GOAL, for ti si only there that the CORRECT PERSPECTIVE is to be found.

"and always, always remember this: a better life is created by a better attitude. and only you can determine what your attitude will be."
